Your Lifestyle is Killing You (article printed in the Eastside Business Journal)
I wrote a few months ago that your productivity on the job, and ultimately your health are dependent on 3
things: What you eat, how you move, and how you think.
I wonder how many folks are reading this in a complete state of denial about their health. They’ve programmed
themselves to believe that all those diseases of affluence that we have in this country “just won’t happen to
me.”
I also hear this often: “Well, I don’t care about how long I live, I just want to enjoy it while I’m
here.” (Which basically means I’m going to smoke, drink, eat poorly, rarely exercise, rant and rave, etc. until the
day I die.)
You see, the problem is…you might have this fantasy idea that you can indulge in all of that and then one day,
you’ll just quietly, peacefully, painlessly pass on in your sleep. The real truth is that you’re going to end
up living through your later years in a very chronically painful, unhealthy condition for a long time. Modern
medicine will do just enough to keep you alive and very uncomfortable, but not cure you.
Do you want feel what it will be like for you 10 or 20 years down the road?
Do some strenuous exercise for at least an hour. At the end of that and the next day will be how your body will
feel in the future ALL of the time. Exercise gives you a preview of your future.
What you eat and how you move are determined by how you think. Ponder this…you know how to eat healthy.
It’s so simple. And yet, you choose to ingest food and drink that put weight on and harm your body. Why do you do
this?
It’s because you are a slave to cravings for this junk. What if, instead, you lived a life where your food is
pleasurable, satisfying, even exciting….AND contributed to your living an active, energetic, healthy second half?
Would you choose that? Don’t you want to be able to play with your grandkids?
How is it that you are so logical and rational in business but not for your own health and life?
It all begins in the mind doesn’t it? The media, food industry, and drug industry have been brainwashing you for
years now. You’ve first got to wake yourself out of that trance of denial that you’ve put yourself in …AND
THEN DECIDE TO MAKE THE CHANGE.
Once you’ve done that, then you have to deprogram all those habits and false beliefs that cause you to eat for
emotional reasons and stop you from exercising.
I haven’t been sick in over 3 years now since I made the changes. Not even a little cold. Your
body’s immune system is designed to deal with just about anything…when it’s working right. Did you know that a
small percentage of folks cure themselves of terminal cancer every year? The power of your mind is awesome…if you
decide to use it. The benefits are now.
